| Nyack Center was founded in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens and is housed in a renovated historic church in the heart of Nyack, NY. The mission of the Nyack Center is to create connections across social, cultural and economic boundaries and to improve the life of all that live in the Nyack community. Nyack Center serves the Nyacks and the larger community of Rockland County, over 2000 people each year, by providing programs, facilities, and opportunities for service. We offer programs that nurture children, teens and families, and provide space for others with similar goals. Nyack Center is more than a community building; we are a place for building community. |

Begun in the fall of 2006, Nyack Center is the out-of-school suspension site for The Nyack School District. The goal of the program is to provide a safe and meaningful out-of-school suspension for students in both Nyack Middle and High Schools. Our objective is to connect students with the school and community in order to transition them back to school and ensure their long-term success as positive members of the community. The program provides a computer lab, tutoring, and group sessions from Monday-Friday, 9-3 depending on the length of each student's suspension. By March 2007, 148 students' suspensions were managed by Project Connect in the 2006-2007 school year. |
